How did it happen so fast?! The shoot is right around the corner & next thing you know, you’re scrambling through your closet, going last minute shopping, all in the hopes to find an outfit. We get it, finding the perfect outfit for your shoot can be stressful! However, it’s all down to basics! With a little help from us, you’ll find it doesn’t have to be as big of a headache as it can seem!
Below are 5 style tips on what to wear for your shoot. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Back To The Basics
These are always a safe bet as to what to wear for your shoot! Neutrals & basics are guaranteed to go with any backdrop: fun murals, urban settings, an indoor studio or an outdoor setting. Neutrals & basics are easy to dress up & accessorize without being too much! We LOVE these looks from one of our engagement sessions!
A Little Color Never Hurt Nobody
We love pops of color here & there! Whether color is incorporated in your outfit or accessories, don’t be afraid to express yourself! Just make sure your outfits aren’t clashing with each other! One of our couples took a color from her outfit & made sure there were bits of it in her fiancĂ©’s as well! Check out their photos & video!
Find a Pattern
A simple stripe, a pretty floral, or even the texture of a shirt can go a long way! We don’t really encourage mixing of patterns, but using it as an addition to a solid or basic is a subtle way of standing out! This gorgeous, floral dress stands out nicely alongside her partner’s outfit & goes perfectly with the surroundings!
Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize
You don’t have to go overboard with the accessories, unless that’s your vibe! But a fun hat, cool jewelry or even a funky jacket can add some fun to the mix! We love these matching boho hats one of our couples used for their maternity shoot!
Appropriate Footwear
Think about the setting & make sure your shoes work! For example, heels by the lake would not be an ideal outfit choice as you could get stuck; it never really works out well! Think practical, but nice. Or if you want to go barefoot in a field, as seen below, that works too!
Planning what to wear for your shoot doesn’t have to be scary, stressful or even time consuming! Think about your settings & the color scheme you’re going for. Another great tool to use for what to wear is Pinterest! There’s plenty of inspiration for you to choose from! Pro Tip: make sure you lay out your outfits & try them on before the shoot to make sure it’s the look you’re going for!
